Spoiler for I Love You, Man
During the dinner at Peterβs parents, we discovers the reason of Peter having no close friends. Apparently, he is the type that always puts his girlfriend first which caused his guy friends to fall out at the end.
It is the comments from Zooey’s friends that wakes him up. They says something about guys without friends are too clingy and it is weird to have Peter Mom as his best friend.
Knowing that he needs to change, Peter plans on a series of “man dates”, that involves casual lunch or drinks but NOT dinner, to find his Best Man with the help of Robbie.
Peter goes through several “man dates” but mostly turns into a disaster. He was about to give up when he meets this very friendly guy named Sidney Fife (by Jason Segal),
Peter and Sidney soon become a pretty close friends. Peter even spends more time together with Sidney than with his fiance, Zooey.
On the engagement night, Sidney comes and makes a toast while suggesting Zooey to ‘please’ Peter more often. Later on, it is found out that Peter tells Sidney about the lack of oral sex. Zooey shares that she doesn’t do it because her ex-boyfriend didn’t enjoy it while she is absolutely fine with having oral.
Peter agrees to loan $8000 to Sidney for his project, in which caused him to have a huge quarrel with his fiance and he spills out the question of why they are getting married. Soon he discovers the reason, apologize to Zooey and break the friendship with Sidney.
What is the ending of I Love You, Man?
Soon it is the wedding day and Peter ends up picking a bunch of random people: his father, his brother, his client, and all the men he went on the man dates. Surprisingly, Sidney comes last minute as Zooey calls him to attend their wedding ceremony.
