in Chick Flick

Finally, the very much awaited chick flick that is based on the famous Shopaholic series. Yes, I’m talking about “Confessions Of A Shopaholic“, an adaptation of the Sophie Kinsella’s best selling novels; Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. Let’s put aside the critics that this movie receives.

The main character in Confessions Of A Shopaholic, Rebecca Bloomwood, is played by Isla Fisher and the editor in chief, Luke Brandon, is played by Hugh Dancy. Isla Fisher played her part really well with a happy-go-lucky attitude and Hugh Dancy manages to maintain his British charm from his previous “Ella Enchanted”.

Is it just me or what, cause I sense a dejavu here. Remind me so much of Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in Sex and the City.

Synopsis of Confessions of a Shopaholic:
Rebecca Bloomwood (25), a sweet and charming New York City girl, lives with her best friend, Suze, in Suze’s flat. Hopelessly addicted to shopping, she finds herself drowning in a great debt. Soon after that, she landed a job as a writer at as an advice columnist for a new financial magazine. Her columns receives a high popularity and turns her into an overnight celebrity. But when her compulsive shopping and growing debt issues threaten to destroy her love life and derail her career, she struggles to keep it all from spiraling out of control and is ultimately forced to reevaluate what’s really important in life.

I wish I have that many shoes!

Tagline from the movie:
All she ever wanted was a little credit…
A new job? Hopefully. A new man? Possibly. A new handbag? Absolutely!

Interesting quotes from the movie:
- Suze: Don’t you think it’s ironic that Rebecca Bloomwood is advising people on how to handle money.
- Rebecca Bloomwood: You know that thing when you see someone cute and he smiles and your heart kind of goes like warm butter sliding down hot toast? Well that’s what it’s like when I see a store. Only it’s better.
- Rebecca Bloomwood: You speak Prada?

Recommended to watch if you like The Devil Wears Prada kind of movie. But, if you are a hardcore fans of Sophie Kinsella’s novel, be prepared to feel a little bit disappointed. One of the reasons is because this movie is an American adaptation instead of English like the novel.
